Beyond the Glass: The Story of Our Furnace
Every glass melting furnace has a story to tell, made of heat, transformation, and rebirth. At Vetreria Etrusca, rebuilding a furnace is not just a technical process but a ritual that blends tradition and innovation. Through these images, we guide you through the three fundamental phases of this cycle: emptying, demolition, and rebirth.
01. Emptying: The Beginning of Change
The furnace, the beating heart of the glassworks, is emptied of the remaining molten glass. The artisans work with precision, removing every residue and revealing the bare structure, marked by time and heat. In this silence filled with anticipation, the furnace prepares for change. Each gesture is both a farewell and a greeting to what is yet to come.
02. Demolition: The Giant at Rest
Once emptied, the furnace faces demolition. The old refractory walls are taken down piece by piece, amidst dust and the echo of hammers. Each brick removed tells a story of heat and transformation. The furnace yields, but this is not an end-it is fertile ground for rebirth.
03. Reconstruction: The Rebirth of Fire
With the foundations cleared, reconstruction begins. New refractory bricks are carefully laid, creating a structure ready to challenge time and flame once more. When the fire burns again, the furnace is not just new: it is the symbol of a tradition that continues, renewing itself without ever fading.
A Flame That Connects Generations
The inauguration of the new furnace was a special moment, a testament to continuity and the strength of tradition. Present was the Bartolozzi Family, the heart of Vetreria Etrusca, along with all those who contribute daily to this reality.
Amid emotion and pride, the accompanying video tells the story of a family-owned company that looks to the future without forgetting its roots. A blend of tradition, innovation, and continuous evolution, passed down from generation to generation, like a flame that never goes out.
